Jaunary 2025
Happy New Year from all of us at CASA!
As we step into 2025, we want to take a moment to get know Amy Epstein our esteem Executive Director just a little bit better.
Meet Our Executive Director
Say hello to Amy Epstein, Winthrop CASA’s executive director! Amy has been an integral part of CASA since 2015, bringing her passion for helping youth, promoting inclusion, and creating no-cost opportunities. She served as executive director from 2015 to 2018, joined the board of directors from 2018 to 2021, and stepped back into her original role in 2021 to focus on growing CASA through strategic grants.
Do you have a motto that inspires you in your work?
“In our work, we always say, ‘not about us without us.’ This means that we must engage, at every stage, with the population we are serving. We need young people guiding our work–through a seat at the table and decision-making roles.”
Amy’s dedication and vision continue to inspire CASA’s mission and the lives of countless youth. Her love for connecting with others, whether through walking along the beach, enjoying documentaries, or sharing laughs with friends, reflects her genuine care for building strong, inclusive communities.
What initially drew you to CASA?
“I was, and still am, drawn to the organization for many reasons. I love that it started with a couple of parents who had concerns about youth drug use and wanted to make a change. I love that it’s focused on primary prevention and working to address issues and problematic behaviors before they begin. I’m proud that it’s an independent 501(c)(3) and one of the few community-based nonprofit organizations in Winthrop.”
Amy’s leadership has been instrumental in expanding CASA’s reach, ensuring no-cost, inclusive opportunities for all youth in grades 6-12. Her steadfast belief in the power of community collaboration has shaped CASA into a cornerstone of support for families in Winthrop.
What is one aspect of CASA’s mission you feel particularly passionate about?
“Our programs are no-cost, safe, and inclusive. The most important thing we do is provide opportunities to underserved members of our community. CASA is free and open to all youth in grades 6-12. We are focused on eliminating barriers to participation and helping all youth feel they have access to helpful services and positive experiences.”
