YOUTH PROGRAM SPECIALIST
Youth Program Specialist: Prevention & Community Engagement
Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Youth Program Specialist plays a key role in developing, planning, and implementing prevention programs that create a safe and welcoming environment for CASA’s youth. This position focuses on fostering well-being and addressing the needs of both low- and high-risk youth to prevent violence and unsafe behaviors in the community.
The Youth Program Specialist collaborates with the Operations Coordinator to design youth-led programs, strategies, and events that reduce risk factors and strengthen protective factors for middle and high-school-aged youth. Key responsibilities include overseeing programming in prevention education, social-emotional learning, community service, LGBTQ+ programming, and youth training. This role is instrumental in promoting a supportive, inclusive space where young people can thrive.
Responsibilities and Duties
Program Management:
Create a safe and welcoming space for all young people, incorporating trauma-informed and restorative practices.
Ensure programs and services effectively meet the needs of youth while aligning with CASA’s organizational objectives.
Assist in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of daily youth programs.
Build trusting relationships with youth and their families using an asset-based and trauma-informed approach.
Participate in relevant professional development trainings to enhance skills and expertise.
Collaborate with CASA staff to ensure smooth operation and program success.
Support the Operations Coordinator in maintaining the CASA office space.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
Availability: Monday-Thursday, 3-6 PM, and Friday, 3-8 PM.
Minimum 2 years of experience in Youth Development, Public Health Prevention, After-school Programming, or a related field working with young people.
Ability to commute to an in-person working environment daily.
Comfort and experience working with marginalized youth, including but not limited to LGBTQ+ youth, neurodivergent youth, and youth of color.
Flexibility with varying weekly schedules based on community events, organizational collaboration, and new programs, which may include evenings and weekends.
Schedules are required to be submitted and approved in advance, as this is a grant-funded position.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in public health initiatives.
Experience organizing events and conducting community outreach.
Salary & Benefits
This is a part-time, at-will position, offered at 25 hours per week, with an hourly rate of $23–$27 based on experience and qualifications.
